PCT Federal Credit Union in Partnership with Wareham Public High School, Names School Store in Honor of School Committee and Board Member, Clifford Sylvia for Years of Dedicated Public Service
West Wareham, MA (September 30th 2022) – PCT Federal Credit Union in Partnership with Wareham Public High School, named its school store in honor of School Committee and Board Member, Clifford Sylvia for his years of dedicated service to Wareham Public Schools. Members of his family, PCT’s Leadership Team, as well as The Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce attended the Naming Ceremony where Mr. Sylvia unveiled the bronze plaque embossed with his name, as well as details of his tenured teaching career.
Mr. Sylvia became a Plymouth County Teachers Federal Credit Union Member in early on in his teaching career, and went on to being elected to serve on the Board of Directors. He elevated his involvement with the credit union by volunteering as the Director of the Marketing Committee, and still serves today. Sylvia completed five, threeyear terms on the School Committee. Prior, he was a teacher in the school system, embarking on his first years teaching almost 50 years ago. He was also instrumental in kick-starting DECA, Wareham High School’s business club, now going stronger than ever in its 48th year. In 2015, Mr. Sylvia’s long-time vision of providing financial education resources to the teachers, staff, and students of Wareham Public Schools was realized when PCT’s second branch was opened at the High School.
Scott Palladino, Principal of Wareham High School and 30-year veteran of the Wareham school system, reflected on the years of dedicated service Mr. Sylvia has devoted to public education, and he knew that the best way to honor Mr. Sylvia was to return to their respective roots of where his career began; Wareham Public High School. As of September 30th, 2022, Mr. Sylvia’s legacy is engrained on a bronze plaque in the building’s school store, and serves as a statement to those who see it that his countless contributions will forever play a part in both PCT’s, and Wareham Public School’s history.
